Paul R. Dugan, 71, on March 10, 2024

Paul R. Dugan, 71, of  North Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at home. Paul was known for his quick wit, joke-telling, and stories. He had a gift of bringing laughter to any gathering and could talk with anyone and make them feel special, even during what he called his long 'dance with cancer.'

Born in Amsterdam, NY on August 17, 1952, he was a loving son of the late Edward Dugan and Xenia (Klymkiw) Dugan.

He grew up in Tribes Hill, NY, the third son of seven siblings. He attended the College of the Holy Cross and spent a year in Ireland. After college, Paul spent many years on Block Island, working in hotels, construction, plumbing, and even lobstering. After he married, he moved to the mainland and worked for OSHA.

Paul loved history, photography, feeding his backyard birds, old-time movies, calling radio stations, listening to Radio Dismuke, and always relished a heated political argument. When calling his family and friends, he would start talking as if in the middle of a conversation until they guessed who it was. He also knew how to skillfully exit an event unobserved. He quietly left the same way on March 10th, at home, in his favorite recliner, holding his TV remote.

He will be missed by his devoted wife of 40 years, Karen A. (Milone) Dugan, his personal nurse, Mavis Davis, his family, and many friends. He leaves his brothers and sisters, Edward (Wendy), Michael (Gail), Martha Morini (Thomas), Teresa Kelly (Jeff), Amy, Brigid, and beloved Aunt Katherine, cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families.

All services will be held privately at a later date.

Instead of flowers, please donate to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and if you are so inclined, enjoy a Guinness in his name.
