Violet Grzenda, 98, on January 22, 2024

PLAINVILLE - Violet Grzenda, 98, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2024 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Grzenda.

Born in Pawtucket, RI on May 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Charles Horton and Mable (Bowman) Horton.

Violet's love story with Frank began at the roller rink, where they quickly fell in love. They married and moved to North Attleboro, becoming active members of Grace Episcopal Church. Violet dedicated 12 years as a Sunday school teacher and over 30 years as an active member of the altar guild. They were also devoted members of the Plainville Grange for over two decades.

Together with Frank, family, and friends, Violet played a key role in building the home where she lived for over 70 years in Plainville, while also contributing to the family's chicken farm. Balancing farm life, she often worked as a bookkeeper and waitress to support her family.

In her quiet moments, Violet enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading books. She took pride in her son David, who served his country with honor. Violet is survived by her only living son, Raymond, niece Joan Grzenda, and daughter-in-law Becky Grzenda.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, starting with visitation from 10:00 to 10:45 AM in Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. The service will follow at 11:00 AM in Grace Episcopal Church, 104 North Washington Street, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend.
