Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home Obituaries

Denise M. Giers, 48, on December 12, 2023

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that I share the untimely passing of my beloved daughter, Denise Giers, at the age of 48, in Plainville, Massachusetts on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

Denise was the loving daughter of the late Tina (Capen) Giers and is survived by her father, Robert S Giers of North Attleboro. She leaves behind two cherished sons: Gregory, 23, currently stationed in Hawaii while serving in the Navy, and Christopher, 20, residing in Medway, MA. She is also remembered by her brother, Robert S. Giers and his wife Kathy of Dubuque, IA, and her niece and nephew Mitchel and Kelsey Giers. Denise was the niece of  the late Theresa and Paul Black, and cousin of Joshua, Joseph and Brian Black of Attleboro, her aunt Mary O'Brien, and the cousin of Erin Sloan and April O'Brien of St. Augustine, FL. Her family extends to her uncle, Stephan Giers of the Philippines, cousins Stephanie Garland of Phoenix, AZ, Christina Giers of Dedham, MA, and aunt Katheryn Barbaro of Worcester, MA, her late aunt Patricia (Giers) Eliason and family, her late cousin Johnathan Giers of Rhode Island and her former stepmother Joan Gustaff of North Attleboro. She also leaves other extended family and many, many longtime close friends to mourn her passing.

Born on August 1, 1975, in Boston, MA, Denise grew up in Hyde Park, attended Most Precious Blood school in Hyde Park, graduated from Norfolk Agricultural High School in Norfolk, MA, and completed two years at Newbury College in Boston. A devoted mother, she took immense pride in her sons, embodying love and generosity. Denise had a heart for those less fortunate, displaying a playful and caring nature that brought joy to those around her with her infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and charming dimples. Embracing the present moment, she found joy in the outdoors, had a passion for animals, adored fashion, loved to dance, and was known for giving the warmest best hugs.

Denise had an eye for value, enjoying rummaging through thrift stores and reselling treasures online. She also found fulfillment in matchmaking, helping others find love and companionship, and contributed to dance exercise instruction with various companies.

Visitation to honor Denise will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A prayer service, officiated by the Reverend Bernard Lavin, will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Denise's memory to a favorite or local charity, allowing her legacy of compassion and care to continue.
