Darrell M. Silva, 81, on November 17, 2023

CARVER - Darrell M. Silva, 81, of Carver, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the AccentCare Inpatient Hospice Center in Milton, with his daughter, Tina and son-in-law, Rodney by his side. He was the beloved husband of Joan Silva of Carver.

Born on September 24, 1942, in Plymouth, MA, Darrell was the loving son of the late Manuel Silva and Rosemond V. (Monteiro) Silva. His father emigrated from Cape Verde, instilling in Darrell a profound passion for the American dream. He graduated from Plymouth High School and was a staunch advocate for education. Darrell earned his Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Northeastern University, setting the foundation for a long and illustrious career at the General Electric Company, from which he retired.

Darrell's career led him to travel extensively for work, showcasing his detailed-oriented, systematic approach, and outstanding work ethic. A handy individual, he found joy in working around his house and tending to his yard and garden, demonstrating exceptional skills in fixing and maintaining things. In 2000, he embarked on the project of building his own home on family land, receiving assistance from his brother, Jerry, and other family members.

A proud member of the National Rifle Association, Darrell enjoyed shooting and took pleasure in his E&J Whiskey. An avid fan of the Boston Celtics, he cherished spending time with his family, especially with his brothers Big John and Jerry.

In addition to his wife, Darrell is survived by his children: Tilia Satterwhite and her husband Marvin of Pawtucket, RI, Tina Silva-Urbank and her husband Rodney of Norton, MA, and Darrell Silva and his wife Molly of Pawtucket, RI. He was the grandfather of Aleishia, Joshua, Xander, Ashley, and Caleb, and the great-grandfather of Jacob, Sean, and Mekai.

Darrell was the dear brother of the late Carl "Big John" and wife July, Margaret, Mitchell and his wife Barbara, Mary, and Jerome "Jerry" and his wife Ethel.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Carver. Interment will follow in Lakenham Cemetery, 75 Forest Street, Carver. Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend and celebrate the life of Darrell.

In memory of Darrell's generosity, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Saint Joseph's Indian School, UNICEF, or the AARP Foundation in lieu of flowers.
