William E. "Billy" Martell, Jr., 55, on October 28, 2023

CUMBERLAND, RI - William E. Martell, Jr., 55, of Cumberland, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family the morning of Saturday October 28th, 2023 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA.

Welcomed into the world on December 2nd, 1967 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, He was a son of Judith (Plante) Martell and the late William E. Martell, Sr. He was a student of North Attleboro Public Schools, graduating from North Attleboro High school in 1985. Post graduation he worked construction until he founded W.E Martell Landscaping and Construction Inc. in 2001 where he eventually worked alongside his two sons.

On March 31st, 1990 he welcomed his first son, William into the family and soon after, married his childhood sweetheart Christine on December 12th, 1992. On May 18th, 1993, they welcomed their second son Benjamin into the world. Billy was a lifelong lover of animals, and the house was always full of big dogs, as well as loud music. Their home was a place where neighborhood friends would congregate and create childhood memories. The family especially loved to celebrate the 4th of July, and it was tradition to celebrate by watching the Arnold MIlls parade, and by enjoying a neighborhood block party afterward.

His legacy lives on through his close family and friends; His wife Christine Martell (Harmon); His sons William Martell III, and his partner Jacqui Rondeau; Benjamin Martell, and his spouse Alexandra Marshall; His mother Judith Martell (Plante); his sister Darlene Martell and his brother Jeffrey Martell. He also was part of a large extended family including his mother-in-law, Janet Harmon; his brother-in-Law Kevin Harmon; his caretaker and longtime friend Samantha Marshall, multiple nieces and nephews, Sharon Colasacco and her sons Brendan Davis and Michael Beachamp.

Billy had many activities that he, his family, and friends enjoyed alongside him, including fishing, cooking and grilling. Friends of Billy would know that he was also quite proud of his gardening, both indoor and outdoor. Alongside his brother Jeff he also enjoyed traveling and competing in motocross events with friends under the motocross number 224. The whole family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses for their exceptional care in the ICU at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA.

Visitation, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral service in celebration of Billy's life will be held at the conclusion of the visitation, beginning promptly at 6:00 PM in the funeral home
