Georgette M. Plante, 93, on July 23, 2023

PLAINVILLE - Georgette M. (Boelker) Plante, 93 passed away peacefully in Wrentham on Sunday, July 23, 2023 surrounded by her three children.

Georgette was born on June 26, 1930 in Providence, RI to Arthur and Mary (Tully) Boelker.  They later moved to Plainville, MA where she spent most of her life.

She graduated from Plainville High School in 1949.  She worked as the Office Manager for the late Congressman Joe Martin at the North Attleboro Chronicle.  She moved on and worked for the Town of Plainville in the Tax Office as well as the Clerk to the Board of Selectmen.  She was later elected as Tax Collector for many years retiring in 1993.  She also served on the Plainville Housing Authority, Plainville Centennial Committee, Council on Aging and the Historical Commission.  She also served as a Brownie Troop Leader. 

Georgette was a huge Boston Red Sox fan and caught the fever during the 1967 “Impossible Dream” season.  Her favorite player was Rico Petrocelli.  During her retirement years she enjoyed camping with her husband.

The biggest personal qualities she impressed on her children was service to the community, honesty and a strong work ethic.

She was married to the late George Plante and was sister to the late Constance Boucher and Alice Hayden.  She is survived by children Bradley and Carolyn Plante of Poland, ME, Lynn Carley of North Attleboro and Georgia and Michael Valdibieso of Ontario, OR.  Also, former daughter in law Audrey Patton Plante of Plainville, James Carley of North Attleboro and Daniel Moore of Florida.  She also had eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Visitation, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A service in celebration of Georgette’s life will be held in the funeral home at the conclusion of the visitation, beginning promptly at 1:00 PM. Inurnment will follow at the Plainville Cemetery, West Bacon Street, Plainville. A collation will be held after the services at a location to be announced.
