Matthew J. Pechenik, 30, on April 23, 2023

NORTH ATTLEBORO - With deep sadness we are sharing that Matthew James Pechenik, 30, of North Attleboro, MA passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Sunday, April 23, 2023.

Born in Wellesley, MA on October 8, 1992, Matt was the loving son of Kathryn Moloney of North Attleboro and Mark Pechenik of South Berwick, Maine.  He is survived by his big and loving family including special Aunts, Uncles and cousins, and best friends, Chris Klein and Ryan Bizier.

From birth, Matt was curious, intelligent, funny, competitive and motivated to be the best person he could be.  He was a proud graduate of Bishop Feehan High School and Bryant University, and passed the CPA exam within months of graduation.  Matt was selected to participate in the Archway Investment Fund at Bryant, after which the Faculty Advisor stated that Matt came to Bryant, worked hard and claimed his education.

Matt was passionate about playing basketball and lacrosse, as well as his favorite teams the Celtics and Patriots and his favorite band, Brand New.  He loved to travel, especially to family reunions at the Moloney homestead in Ireland, as well as Long Beach, Stone Harbor, Texas, and a trip to England, Ireland, Scotland and Paris with his close friends.  He and his friends attended more concerts than can be counted.  Those who knew Matt knew he was into the details.  He created a winning Madden player and named him “Matt Money”.

A Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be celebrated in his honor on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Saint John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, with the Reverend Craig Pregana officiating. Visitation has respectfully been omitted and Matt will be laid to rest privately in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, North Attleboro.

Matt’s Mom and family wish to thank the many healthcare professionals who looked after Matt with compassion, especially those at Bellevue and Mount Sinai hospitals in New York City, along with his physician Dr. Scott Perman, the NAPD and NYPD and EMT workers.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Matt’s memory can be made to The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, Family Program, P.O. Box 64348, St. Paul, MN 55164, or hazeldenbettyford.org., Donate, Matthew Pechenik, ID 0529062, comment: Family Program.
