Michael F. Keaney, 81, on April 12, 2024

Michael F. Keaney, 81 of Plainville, formerly of Dorchester, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Brockton VA Medical Center. 

The son of Irish immigrants, he was born in Boston, MA on March 4, 1943 to Michael F. Keaney, Sr. and Helen M. (Devine) Keaney.

Raised in Dorchester with his brother, Thomas and sisters, Mary, Kathleen and Eileen. Survived by his son, James, daughters Michelle and Kimberley, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Michael was a proud United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of The Band of Brothers. 

Michael worked the entirety of his career as a “sanitation engineer” in many different capacities, the majority at Waste Management then retiring from Jemco in Plainville.  

He was an avid gardener, bird watcher, animal lover and drummer.

Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at the conclusion of the calling hours, beginning promptly at 6:30 PM. United States Army honors will be accorded in recognition of Michael’s service to our country. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be held privately at a later date.

  • When I think back about Uncle Mike I see his amazing ? smile. My memories of him were he always seemed to be so happy and funny and sweet.   He was an amazing drummer.  I remember him always being there for his kids Jimmy, Michelle and Kimberly.  He will be sadly missed.  The world was a better place with him in it.
