Lorraine L. Chapman, 77, on June 27, 2024

Lorraine L. Chapman, age 77, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, MA. Born on December 1, 1946, in Rochester, MA, she was the cherished daughter of the late John R. Sylvia and Evelyn (Ennes) Sylvia.

Lorraine was raised in Middleboro, MA, and was a proud graduate of Middleboro High School. Following her graduation, she pursued further education at Chandler Business School in Boston, where she earned her secretarial certification. Her dedication and hard work led her to a long and fulfilling career at Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she devoted forty years before retiring.

Lorraine found joy in simple pleasures such as knitting and trying her luck with scratch tickets. She was known for her generous spirit, frequently donating to various charitable organizations. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew her, and she especially cherished the time spent with her close-knit family and friends.

She is survived by her loving brother-in-law, Raymond Earl Stearns of Plainville, and her dear nieces and nephews: Sheryl S. Martel and her partner Paul, Kathleen Stearns, Michael Chartrand, Brian Chartrand and his wife Chris, Cindy Sixberry and her husband Keith, John Chartrand and his wife Caron, Andy Chartrand, David Chartrand and his wife Beverly, Danny Chartrand and his wife Darlene, Louis Chartrand and his wife Debbie, and Theresa Moore and her husband Eric. Lorraine also leaves behind many great-nieces and great-nephews including her great-nephew Jimmy Martel, along with her lifelong friend Marsha Messier of Maine.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Mary Stearns, Katherine Chartrand, and John Sylvia. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Lorraine’s life on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral service, officiated by Reverend Bernard Lavin, will follow immediately at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Lorraine will be laid to rest in Shepardville Cemetery in Plainville.

Lorraine’s generosity, love for her family, and dedication to helping others will always be remembered. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
