Kyle James Johnson 04/02/2018

NORTH ATTLEBORO – Kyle James Johnson, 19, of North Attleboro and beloved son of Jim and Sue (Burns) Johnson passed away Monday, April 2, 2018.

Kyle was born August 17, 1998 in Norwood and was a grandson of Nancy Burns of North Attleboro and Capt. George O. Johnson, USMC (Ret.) of North Attleboro.

Kyle was a lifelong resident of North Attleboro and a 2016 graduate of North Attleboro High School.  He attended Keene State College in New Hampshire and was currently a special education major at Bridgewater State College.

He has worked at Hilliards Chocolate Store in Mansfield for the past four years; he had a devotion to special needs children, and he was a 5-year participant in the Best Pal’s organization at North Attleboro High School and Best Buddies at Bridgewater State.  He also was a 2-year coordinator for the Special Olympics event at the Attleboro High School.

Kyle played North Attleboro Junior Football, Little North Attleboro League baseball and competed in both sports at North High as well as Track and Field.

Without a doubt, Kyle’s favorite moments in life were those spent simply hanging out with family and friends.  Known for his contagious laugh, he was a ray of sunshine who always had a kind word and smile for everyone he encountered.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, two devoted sisters survive him: Katie and Lauren Johnson both of North Attleboro and dozens of loving uncles, aunts and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held at St. Mark’s Church, 105 Stanley Street, Attleboro Falls on Friday, April 6 from 4-8 p.m.  A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mark’s on Saturday, April 7 at 12noon followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts Special Olympics at www.specialolympicsma.org, 512 Forest Street, Marlborough, MA 01752 or  the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, www.adaa.org.

Paul, Pat, Zach and the entire McGowan family.

  • Dear Johnson Family, Just learning of your son’s passing and I send along my deep condolences. I teach at BSU and although I did not know your son directly I can feel how special a soul and person he was. No words can heal the pain you are in, but know you raised a wonderful young man and so enlightening for all of us to follow in his path. His work and life’s passions won’t go unnoticed and his legacy will not only live on with his family and friends, but also in the rest of us the human race that strives each day to live in love and harmony and to help those in need. All my love, Darby Hobbs

  • Jimmy, Sue, Katie, Lauren, I told you at the wake that I wish I had more to say than, “I’m Sorry”, but there are just no words to express the depth of sadness I feel for all of you. I did say to you, Sue, that Kyle was, “Too good to be true”, and he was. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers, and will keep Kyle’s memory, and the happiness he brought to me and all who knew him, in my heart forever. Sincerely and With Love, Patty

  • To the Johnson Family. Clearly a family that has dedicated themselves not only to their family but so many other families & children via education or with their volunteer efforts and hours of coaching, and prior to that playing sports or supporting events for North Attleboro themselves. Although a transplant to North Attleboro we have witnessed your selflessness while helping others and perhaps it should have been expressed sooner. We, one of those extended families you have touched wanted to share our deepest felt sorrow in the loss of your beautiful son, Kyle. Your family will be in our hearts and prayers in the difficult days ahead.

  • As a parent my heart goes out to you and your family, my daughter Hayley worked at Hilliard’s with Kyle, I had also met him while I shopped there, always a smile and friendly attitude, I wish him peace and my prayers go out to you at this difficult time.

  • My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and all of Kyle’s friends. There are no words that can ease your pain but hopefully your memories and the memories people share with you of Kyle will bring you peace and comfort. He certainly seems to have touched a lot of lives, I know he did for my son.

  • Dear Sue, Jim, Katie & Lauren We offer our condolences to you and your family on the tragic loss of Kyle. You are in our thoughts & prayers during this very difficult and sorrowful time. God Bless All of You!

My daughter Brooke had been a classmate of Kyles since 3rd grade and volunteered for many years with him in Best Pals and Best Buddies at BSU. We hope your family and friends find peace in their memories and know how much Kyle has so beautifully touched everyone’s lives in some way or another.

  • The world lost a shining spirit and a genuine smile on April 2. We will always remember Kyle with such fond memories from the football and Little League fields, and hope Jim, Sue and the girls know we are all hugging and praying for them all. With much love.

  • To the Johnson family,

There are no adequate words to properly comfort you in this time of immense grief, but know that this entire community stands with you in this difficult time. Even as a sub at NAHS the past several years, certain students have always stood out to make lasting impressions on me, and Kyle was one of them. He was one of those students I was always especially happy to see on the day’s roster. I could always tell how much he radiated positivity and kindness around anyone and everyone, which is something we need more of in this world. The earth may be a little darker now without him, but remember that heaven is a little brighter with his presence. My most heartfelt condolences to all of you and God bless.

My professor in a class that we both had together, we sat there all day and talked about him. We talked about how kind he was, how smart he was, and how incredibly sad we are that he will not be in class with us any longer. I wish I had gotten the chance to know him better. My heart is broken for your family and all of his friends. I will be praying for you in this tragic time and as you mourn this terrible loss.

  • Jim, Sue, and family, Our hearts go out to you at this difficult time. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I feel so privileged to have had the time to know Kyle personally as he was always laughing and making everyone around him feel accepted and worthy of being heard. My heart goes out to his family and friends during this time and I pray we recognize his life as a gift from God that was filled with an extraordinarily special purpose. He is always with us. • Maybe it is not appropriate for me to write anything here, but I am a student at BSU who just found out, a couple hours ago, about Kyle. I did not know Kyle, unfortunately, but I see all the wonderful things that everyone is saying and writing about him, and I imagine he was a wonderful guy. I wish all the best for his friends and family, for this must be a difficult time. I would just like to say that my professor is the one who informed me about Kyle. He said that he did not hear anyone talk about Kyle today, and that he felt it was wrong to not say a few words before we started class. He thought that Kyle deserved our time, even if for a few moments. This was just a nice moment in class, where we all sort reflected about life, and how precious it is. Like I said, I didn’t know Kyle, but he impacted my life a little today. As we creep up on finals, things become really stressful and we can easily forget how lucky we are. Kyle has made me appreciate today a lot more than I would have. Thank you Kyle.

  69. To the Johnson Family.

All my love, Darby Hobbs
