NORTH ATTLEBORO – Joanna Sawyer, 68, of North Attleboro passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston surrounded by her devoted family. 

Born December 6, 1949 in New Bedford, she was a daughter of the late William and Mazelle (Orcutt) Russell.

Joanna grew up in Barrington, RI and was a 1967 graduate of Barrington High School.  She earned an associate degree from Katherine Gibbs school and has been a resident of North Attleboro since 1973.

She worked in the office at various local companies throughout her career.

She was an avid Boston sports fan, particularly of the Red Sox and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Sawyer of North Attleboro; her son, Matthew Sawyer and wife Kathleen of Mansfield; three grandchildren Lily, Matthew and Olivia Sawyer; three brothers Bruce Russell and wife Jane of Salem, NH, Tommy Russell and wife Cindy of East Greenwich, RI and Nat Russell of Coventry, RI; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately with burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum, Attleboro Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO BOX 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
