James “Soup” Campbell 10/12/2017

ATTLEBORO – James “Soup” Campbell, 65, of Mendon Road passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness.  He was the loving husband of Millicent (Brunner) Campbell for over 46 years.

Born February 1, 1952 in Attleboro, he was a son of Evelyn (Andrew) Smith of Attleboro and the late Frank Campbell.

James grew up in Attleboro and attended Attleboro schools.  He has worked as a service technician at Cryan Landscaping for the past several years and previously worked at Lisco Irrigation and Stay Green Irrigation.  When he was younger he worked as a plater for several local jewelry firms including Balfour and General Metal Finishing.

Soup was an enthusiastic outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting in the Berkshires and fishing for striped bass on Cape Cod.  He was also devoted to his family and his many friends.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Wade and husband Ronald of Rehoboth; his son, Michael Campbell and wife Megan of North Attleboro; four grandchildren: Cassandra and Brianna Wade and Alexa and Adalynn Campbell; a great-grandson Bowen Hayes; two brothers: Ronald Campbell and wife Claire of Norton and John Campbell and wife Barbara of Attleboro; two sisters: Darla Harris and husband Peter Oettgen of Merrimack and Lisa Goyette of Attleboro; his mother-in-law, Gladys Brunner of St. Petersburg, FL;  and many nieces and nephews.

He was brother of the late Robert Smith and brother-in-law of the late Pamela Kennedy Smith.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 18 at 11 a.m.
