Richard Leydon on May, 15, 2023

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Richard Leydon passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2023 following a brief battle with cancer. Richard—Rich or Richie to his friends and loved ones—was with his loving wife, Celeste, at the time of his departure. Rich was born in Brookline, MA to John Leydon and Mary Duggan Leydon and grew up alongside his older brother, John, and his younger predeceased sister Mary Forget.

Rich was raised in North Attleboro and attended Bishop Feehan Class of ‘71 where he met the love of his life Celeste Poirier. The pair were married in 1972 and were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this past year. Rich was a diesel mechanic at The Trans-Lease Group in Westwood, MA before settling into his career as the owner/operator of Attleboro Auto Sales.

Rich was a man of simple pleasures; he enjoyed fishing, watching Boston sports, and spending time at his Cape house in Sandwich, MA. Above all else, Rich most enjoyed his family.  Specifically, his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to beam with pride over their successes and accomplishments and offer them unconditional love and support during their most trying times. He never let any of his five daughters or eleven grandchildren leave a room without telling them how much he loved them.

Rich Leydon is survived by wife, Celeste, his brother John, his daughters; Michelle DiRenzo, Rosalie Leydon, Jennifer Smith, Kimberly McLaughlin, and Sarah Long, and his grandchildren; Kayla Direnzo, Julianna Direnzo, Jacob Direnzo, Victoria Smith, Ethan Smith, Nolan McLaughlin, Ella McLaughlin, Chloe McLaughlin, Timothy Long, Desmond Long and Roland Long.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 from 5 to 7 pm in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Saturday, May 27, 2023 in Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church Street, North Attleboro.  A private burial will follow. Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Lenore’s Pantry.
