Rachel Marie (Noviello) Savard passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023, after a long illness with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Raymond, who passed away last July.
Born June 5, 1937, in Franklin, MA, into a large extended Italian family, she was the daughter of the late Nicola Noviello and Mary (Bravo) Stack and the stepdaughter of the late Joseph Stack. She is predeceased by her loving brother, Nicholas Noviello and was the sister of Rosalie Schromm, of North Attleboro, MA.
After spending much of her childhood in Franklin, MA, Rachel settled in North Attleboro, MA, where she and Raymond raised their family. She was a stay-at-home mom to their seven children and could always be found in the kitchen cooking or on the sidelines of their many sporting events, home or away, cheering them on. In retirement, they frequently traveled, visiting 48 states, Puerto Rico, Australia, Canada, Italy, and France, and spent many winters in Florida.
Rachel never missed a Red Sox game and loved listening to music, her favorites being Frank Sinatra and Rod Stewart. She enjoyed watching TV and movies, especially the films of Charles Bronson. She never turned down an invite to play cards, it didn't matter what game was being played. She was a gifted crocheter and embroiderer, making countless gifts for family and friends. Rachel loved to cook and bake; a family celebration wasn't complete without her anise cookies. She was very proud of her Italian heritage; a unique experience was being able to celebrate Italy winning the 2006 World Cup while on vacation in the country. Always social, Rachel looked for any occasion to throw a party. In recent years she developed a love of 1,000-piece puzzles. Those who knew her best knew not to call during Jeopardy. But her favorite activity was spending time with her family, especially the annual summer vacations to Cape Cod, where she could be found on the beach for hours, "babysitting" her grandchildren, with who she made
sure to spend individual time with.
Rachel leaves behind her seven children, Mary Barrett, Denise (Fred) Achin, Raymond (Kara), Steven (Joan), James (Lori), Diane (Rene) Savard, Catherine (John) Bergeron; fourteen grandchildren, Christie, Ray, Courtney, Brianna, Hayden, Katie, Thomas, Tony, Jane, Jack, Paige, Sam, Mackenzie, and Luke; six great-grandchildren; Gavin, Calvin, Oliver, Elliott, Ryder, and Miss Lily, as well as a large extended family.
Rachel’s family would like to thank her medical team, VNA Nurses, and the staff at Miriam Hospital and Hope Hospice for their care and compassion.
A celebration of Rachel’s life will be a private family event to be held at a later date.
