NORTH ATTLEBORO - Suszanne J. Keyes, 92, of North Attleboro, formerly of Harwich, MA and Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas R. Keyes who passed away on February 11, 2005.
Born in Springfield, MA on December 1, 1930, she was the loving daughter of the late Alton Klaus and Clara (Rugani) Klaus.
Mrs. Keyes was employed as a first grade teacher for twenty years at the Anna Ware Jackson School in Plainville and served as the president of the Norfolk County Teachers Association in 1978.
Suszanne spent fifty years summering on Cape Cod in Harwich and spent thirty-five years wintering in Sarasota, FL. An avid golfer, she was a member of Pawtucket Country Club in Pawtucket, RI and Meadows Country Club in Sarasota, FL. She also loved Boston sports and particularly enjoyed being a spectator during spring training in Florida.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, with whom she lived, Carolyn M. Keyes of North Attleboro. She is also survived by her constant companion, her beautiful blonde lab, Irelyn Griffin Keyes.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum in North Attleboro, where Suszanne will be laid to rest with her late husband, Thomas.
