NORTH ATTLEBORO – Joseph J. Withington, 84, a lifelong resident of North Attleboro and self-described townie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence.

Born in Attleboro, MA on April 4, 1938, he was the loving son of the late Joseph C. Withington and Mary J. (Farrington) Withington.

Joe grew up in North Attleboro and was a graduate of North Attleboro High School where he excelled in football. He went on to attend the University of Rhode Island where he also played on the football team and would later become a member of the Attleboro Area Football Hall of Fame.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he served his country proudly from 1956 to 1959.

Mr. Withington was  a carpenter by trade and was employed by Swanson Construction Company in Attleboro for 30 years before his retirement.

He is survived by his dear sister, Mary Sue Gardetto of Ohio and also leaves many nieces, nephews and close friends to mourn his passing.
