Edna G. Lareau, 88, on November 30, 2022

Edna G. (Robitaille) Lareau, 88, of North Attleboro, formerly of South Attleboro, peacefully passed away on November 30, 2022. She was blessed to have had the opportunity to spend her last years at home thanks to the love and caregiving of her amazing husband, Richard and the help of family members.

Born on June 1, 1934 in Putnam, CT, she was the loving daughter of the late Armand and Florence (Couture) Robitaille. She was educated in Pawtucket, RI schools and later, the Hubbard Business School.

Edna married Richard E. Lareau, the love of her life on November 12, 1956 and they went on to have three children. They recently celebrated 66 years of blissful marriage.

Edna spent 25 years working as a secretary/administrative assistant in the City of Attleboro school system, from which she retired. Outside of work, in earlier years, she was a communicant of Saint Theresa’s Church in South Attleboro and was quite active in the parish. She was a past president of the Christian Mothers and co-chaired the annual Christmas bazaar. For her dedicated volunteer service, Edna was awarded the distinguished Marion Medal by the diocese of Fall River.

At home, Edna enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. Whether it was family cookouts or the traditional crazy Christmas march to the Tin Soldiers Parade, she loved having fun. Edna’s other interests included traveling, reading, word search puzzles, crafts, watching old cowboy westerns and her favorite home activity, playing Scrabble, a game which she never seemed to lose. She also enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, Big Papi being her favorite player, and enjoyed watching the New England Patriots, “Gronkie” being her favorite.

In addition to her beloved husband, Richard, Edna is survived by her son, Mark and his wife Linda of Suffolk, VA; son Steven and his wife Dianne of North Attleboro; and daughter Joanne of North Attleboro. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brett, Chad and Adam Lareau, Kimberly Cowan and Stacie Lareau; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her two aunts, Claire Hayes and Doris Couture of Pawtucket, RI.

We will all miss Mom, Grandma and to Richard, “My Bride”.

Visitation, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 4:30 to 6:00 PM in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro, with a service to follow, beginning promptly at 6:00 PM with the Reverend Bernard Lavin officiating.
