Dorothy J. Burrows, 92, on September 22, 2022

NORTH ATTLEBORO – Dorothy Jean Burrows, 92, of North Attleboro passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022 at The Branches of North Attleboro surrounded by her family.  She was the beloved wife of Robert A Burrows to whom she was married to for 66 years before his death in 2021.

Born in Southington CT on October 29, 1929, she was the loving daughter of the late Earle and Dorothy Atwater.

Dorothy was a graduate of Becker Junior College where she received her degree as a medical secretary.

Dorothy was a resident of North Attleboro for 65 years.

In her younger years, she worked at Worcester City Hospital as a medical  assistant.  She was also involved in Weight Watchers for 38 years.  She spent most of her working career at Standard Chain Company in North Attleboro.

Dorothy was a longtime member of the Grace Episcopal Church in North Attleboro where she served on the Vestry, sang in the choir, and served on the alter guild for many years.   She was a member of the Angle Tree Garden Club as a photographer. She loved her time making rugs with her rug-hooking friends. Dorothy was an avid gardener, loved camping, traveling and getting together with many friends.

Dorothy is survived by her three children:  Bruce and his wife Susan Burrows of Amesbury, MA; Nancy Burrows and her fiance’ Russ Franceschini of Plainville, MA; and Carolyn Burrows and her fiance’ David Bibby of Kirkland, WA; her grandson Brian Burrows of Amesbury, MA.

She was predeceased by her siblings Janet E. Hubbard and the Earle B. Atwater II.

Dorothy departed this world leaving love in the hearts of everyone who were blessed to have known her.  Our dear mother left this special remembrance to her children: “I have always tried to do my best for my children. I love you dearly. Please do the best you can in life.  Be loving, kind and patient.”

Visitation, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Grace Episcopal Church, 104 North Washington Street, North Attleboro. Interment will take place privately at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum in North Attleboro at which time Dorothy will be laid to rest with her late husband, Robert.
