Douglas E. Doherty, 92, on July 17, 2022

Douglas Edward Doherty, age 92, of Marshfield peacefully passed away July 17, 2022 surrounded by his family.

 

Born in Syracuse, NY (April 27, 1930), he was the son of Daniel and Ruth (Buchanan) and pre-deceased by his loving sister, Jean. He was married to his beloved wife, Beverly (Sullivan), for 62 years and raised his family in Stoughton.

 

Upon graduating from Lewiston High School (Maine) he joined the Air Force where he served for four years. After military service, he attended and graduated from Bentley College. He worked in the accounting field for most of his career. He enjoyed music, sports, politics, and loved his country. Most importantly, he loved his family and enjoyed all family gatherings, especially Easter and Christmas, where his presence will be greatly missed. He also coached all four of his children in youth sports, coaching STOYAC basketball and Stoughton Little League.

 

Besides his wife Beverly, he leaves behind sons Kevin of Stoughton, Edward and his wife Paula of Sandwich, daughters Karen Anderson and her husband John of Marshfield, and AnnMarie Overstreet and her husband Kevin of Plymouth, 8 grandchildren, Kevin, Shane, Danielle, Caroline, Colleen, Brady, Amanda, and Ashlee. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who all held a special place in his heart.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans Services and VFW. A private service will be held at the Bourne Military Cemetery.
