Paul J. "Pat" Briggs on March 20, 2022

NORTH ATTLEBORO – Paul Joseph “Pat” Briggs, 85, of North Attleboro passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Life Care Center of Attleboro.  He was the loving husband of Barbara (Bowlin) Briggs for the past 63 years.

Born November 6, 1936 in Taunton, he was a son of the late Howard and Mary (Marshall) Briggs Wood.

Pat grew up in the Lonicut area of Attleboro and was a 1956 graduate of Bristol Agricultural School in Rehoboth.  He started his family business in Attleboro Falls in 1960 and moved to North Attleboro in 1962. Pat was proud to be a resident of North Attleboro and was an active member of the community. 

He owned and operated Briggs Nursery on Kelley Boulevard in North Attleboro for 62 years.  Pat loved spending time with his family and caring for his animals, especially his pig Stinky. He enjoyed traveling south with Barbara to escape the cold winters in Massachusetts. He was president of the former Kiwanis Club in North Attleboro, member of the Town Forest Committee and Family Motor Coach Association in addition to many others.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children: Paul, Jr. and his wife Mary Lou; Gary and his wife Niina; Karen Stonis and her husband Paul; David and his wife Marianne; Cheryl Briggs Street and her companion Jim Hanlon; and Julie Bryan and her husband DJ, all of North Attleboro.

He is survived by his sister Patricia (Wood) Fuller and her husband Robert of Fairhaven.  He was also the brother of the late George and David Briggs.

Loving Poppa to his 15 grandchildren Paul III, Taylor, Sean, Evan, Annika, Danielle, Valerie, Douglas, Nicole, Corben, Bailee, Brooke, Samantha, Zach and Sydney and his four great-grandchildren Jared, Jack, Finley and Forrest. Caring uncle to many nieces and nephews whom he cherished greatly.

At the request of the family, services will be private.  All are welcome to pay their respects at Pat’s Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 26 any time between 2-6 at Lakeview Pavilion, 45 Lakeview Road, Foxboro, MA 02035. 

In lieu of flowers, Pat’s family requests donations be made to either Lenore’s Pantry or the North Attleboro Animal shelter both at 43 South Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.
