Laura Val, 88, on January 30, 2022

BOSTON – Laura Val, 88, of Dorchester passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham.  She was wife of the late Deville Val, Sr for over 45 years before his death in 2010.

Born May 13, 1933 in Haiti, she was a daughter of the late Sylia and Jules Marsan.

Laura grew up in Haiti before moving to New York in the 1970’s.  She moved to the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston in 1973 and later Dorchester in 1975.

She taught school in Haiti and worked as a caretaker in Boston for several years before becoming a homemaker and raising her own children.

Laura was an excellent cook, seamstress and was devoted to her faith.  She loving singing hymns and took pilgrimages across the world including to Jerusalem.

She is survived by three sons: Bernard “Luc” Val and his wife Jeanne, Harold Val and wife Pamela and Deville Val, Jr. and wife Fay;

4 grandchildren: Charles, Christopher, Benjamin and Jeremy.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11 a.m.  Burial to follow at North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro.
