Patrick P. Grimaldi, 99, on January 22, 2022

Patrick P. Grimaldi, 99, a lifelong resident of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at home surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of the late Gladys (Hine) Grimaldi, who passed away on January 29, 1999.

He was born on October 25, 1922 and was the loving son of the late Louis and Louisa (Conte) Grimaldi.

Mr. Grimaldi was a graduate of North Attleboro High School, Class of 1941, and began his work career with his father’s construction company, Grimaldi Construction. In 1966, he began working for the Town of North Attleboro as Supervisor of the town Sewer Plant. In that capacity, he oversaw the construction of the new Sewer Plant in the 1970s. His expertise in this field was sought after and he often consulted with other cities and towns throughout Massachusetts that were constructing or expanding their facilities. He retired from this position in 1980 to care for his ailing wife but maintained his contacts with the town management through service on numerous Boards including service on the Personnel Board for many years. He was honored for his service to the Town through the naming of the new pumping station constructed in 1990 that serves much of the east side of town.

Mr. Grimaldi had many outside interests. Most notable was golf. He travelled all over Massachusetts and Rhode Island playing on many courses and thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie he had with many golfing partners.  Mr. Grimaldi played in golf leagues around the Attleboro area into his late 70s, and “golfed his age” at 78 years. He continued to golf into his late 80s and was known to swing a club in his backyard for a number of years sharing his passion for golf with his family and especially his great-grandchildren.

Mr. Grimaldi had a great love of country music. He would often pass the hours listening to country music, playing his guitar, and singing songs by Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, and other popular country artists.

He is survived by his devoted daughters; Lorna Paone (Nicholas) of Easton, MA, and Patricia Ryan (Barry) of Atlanta, GA; his dear sister, Anita Grimaldi Rocco of San Francisco, CA; his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Paone of Easton, MA, Gregory Paone of Easton, MA, Anne-Maria Paone Nihtila of Easton, MA, Christina Paone Bouchard of Norton, MA, Topher Paone of Stoughton, MA, Seamus Ryan of Hingham, MA, and Katherine Ryan English of Sarasota, FL; and many great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years Gladys, his eldest daughter Linda Cloutier, his granddaughter Jane Cloutier, his grandson John Cloutier, his son-in-law Arthur Cloutier, and his long-time companion Lydia Nuetell.

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 10:30 AM from the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Mark’s Church (Transfiguration of the Lord Parish), 105 Stanley Street, Attleboro Falls. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
