Robert W. "Bob" Schnack, 83, on January 13, 2022

NORTH ATTLEBORO – Robert W. “Bob” Schnack, 83, passed away surrounded by his family on January 13, 2022 at home.  He was the beloved husband of Constance “Connie” (Fish) Schnack for 63 years.  He was born in St. Paul, MN on June 26, 1938, the son of the late Howard and Lillian (Locke) Schnack.

Bob is survived by one brother, Thomas Schnack of Andover, MN.  He leaves behind four sons: Steven and wife Jane (Novak) of Traverse City, MN, Dennis and wife Susan (Guthrie) of Sarasota, FL, Michael and wife Colleen (Mulligan) of Jamestown, RI and Robert W. and wife Leslie (Alexander) of Cranston, RI;

Six grandchildren: Amelia and her husband Derek Murphy of Appleton, WI, Hannah and her husband Ridge Radditz of Bettendorf, IA, Matthew and Brandon of Sarasota, FL, Michael II of Brighton, MA and Caitlin of New York City, NY. 

He also leaves behind one great-grandson, Owen Michael Murphy of Appleton, WI.

Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army for 21 years in Air Defense, then in Explosive Ordnance Disposal E.O.D. for 12 years before retiring in 1976.  He received the Meritorious Service Medal, the National Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct C1 to 6th Awards, Explosive Ordnance Badge, Senior EOD Badge, Master EOD Badge, EOD Specialist Badge and Korea Defense Service Medal.

Upon retiring from the Army, the family moved to North Attleboro.  He worked for Engelhard Industries in Plainville in security for 25 years.

Bob was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Church in North Attleboro where he served as an Eucharistic Minister, an Altar Server for funerals, a member of the R.C.I.A. team and also the Christmas Fair Committee.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 49, which he helped reactivate, was a member of Post 217 Plainville American Legion Post for over 20 years, a member of the VFW in Attleboro and a proud member of the North Attleboro Elk’s Lodge 1011. 

He will be sadly missed by all.

Visiting hours will be held at Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Sunday, January 23 from 3-7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be held at Transfiguration of the Lord Parish at St. Mary’s Church on Monday, January 24 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
