Wayne C. Burtchell, 80, on December 10, 2021

NORTH ATTLEBORO – Wayne C. Burtchell, 80, of Broadway passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI after a brief illness.  He was the loving husband of Laurie (Kavanagh) Burtchell for nearly 31 years.

Born November 21, 1941 in Attleboro, he was a son of the late Merle and Claire (Godbout) Burtchell.

Wayne graduated from St. Mary’s Elementary School and was a 1959 graduate of North Attleboro High School.

He lived most of his life in North Attleboro and also 25 years in Pawtucket, RI.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War where he worked as a photographer doing reconnaissance photography.  After the war he worked as a photographer at Balfour in Attleboro and Carriage House Studio in Providence and owned his own photography business.

Wayne loved motorcycles, car shows and owned several sports cars throughout his life.  He was a fan of the Patriots and Bruins and a huge fan of North Rocketeer’s football and loved the Thanksgiving Day games against Attleboro.

He was a friend of Bill W for 29 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Eric Burtchell of Somerville; four grandchildren: Corrin, Ryan and Cody Burtchell and Emma Whittaker and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Rebecca Burtchell, son Christopher Burtchell and brother Guy Burtchell.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 17 from 5-8 p.m.

A funeral will be held from Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home on Saturday, December 18 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass at Transfiguration of the Lord Parish at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro at 10 a.m.  Burial will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
