Michael J. McDavitt, 72, on November 12, 2021

Michael James McDavitt, age 72, formerly of North Attleboro and currently of Sunset Acres, Plainville, passed away at his home on Friday, November 12, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

He is predeceased by his parents John and Janet and his brother Howard.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Leslie and his loving daughters, Monica Schmidt and her husband David of North Attleboro, Julie O'Connor and her husband Scott of Mansfield and his most beloved grandchildren Hannah and Andy Schmidt and Colin and Landon O'Connor. Michael is also survived by his siblings Kerry and Cheryl McDavitt of Norton, MA, Terri Fitzgerald of Norwood, MA, Buddy McDavitt, Eileen and John Tucker, Jan and Mo Brennan, Nancy Michels and Jimmy McDavitt all from Naples, FL, his sister-in-law Jill Rollins and her husband David of North Attleboro and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was beyond blessed with countless lifelong friends.

Raised in Walpole, MA, he graduated from Walpole High School in 1967. He joined the Navy Reserves specializing in photography. He started his career at New England Telephone Company at the age of 19 and retired at age 46. He continued working at a small phone company until he started and ended his 20 years working at Heather Hill Country Club in Plainville, MA.

Michael enjoyed time spent traveling with his wife, family, and friends. He loved saying his rosary every morning. Michael enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, reading, and the Patriots. His passion for golf was unmatched.

He was a communicant of the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish where he had been a eucharistic minister. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #330 in North Attleboro where he had been a Grand Knight for 2 years and a 4th Degree Knight.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church (Transfiguration of the Lord Parish), 14 Park St. North Attleboro, followed by interment at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Attleboro Falls.

Michael requested that all wear casual attire, no suits and ties to his wake and funeral. Out of respect for his love of golf, please wear golf attire if possible.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you “Be like Mike”. Be kind, show compassion and charity to friends and strangers. Love your neighbors, donate your time to those in need, and tell your families you love them every day.
