Richard M. Burns, 36, on 09/30/2021

ATTLEBORO – Richard M. Burns, 36, of James Street passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. 

Born April 8, 1985 at K.I. Sawyer AFB in Michigan, he was the beloved son of Robert (Brigadier General, retired (PA ANG)) and Patsy (Mitchell) Burns of Wrightsville, PA.

Rick lived in several towns throughout his life including Boothwyn, PA for 11 years, Roswell, GA, Hopedale, MA, Newcastle, DE and has been a resident of Attleboro for the past seven years.

He was a graduate of Whitinsville Christian High School in Massachusetts in 2004 and spent two years working on an electrical degree at NEIT before finishing at Porter Chester.  He also studied Gun Smithing at Penn Foster and recently started a BS degree at the University of Phoenix in Cyber Security.

He worked in the Marine Division of Rolls Royce as an assembler and previously worked at Wilco Electric in Columbia, PA and Eastern Shore Electrical in Delaware.

Rick loved fishing, firearms, kayaking and spending time at his uncles’ cabin in Vermont.  He was also a devoted member of Waters Church in North Attleboro where he was part of their security team.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two siblings: Laura R. Duke and husband Patrick of Jamesville, WI and Ryan M. Burns,( Ssgt USAF) and wife Toni of Shaw AFB, SC; two aunts: Pamela Doughterty and husband Kevin and Charlotte McDowell and husband Michael; seven nieces and nephews: Liesel, Roman and Jon Duke, Cole Burns and Brooke, Matthew and Abbey Irelan; and several cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 9 at 11 a.m. at Waters Church, 57 John L. Dietsch Sq, North Attleboro, MA 02760.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waters Church.
