Michael Desper, 61, on August 25, 2021

ATTLEBORO – Michael Desper, 61, of Attleboro passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Born May 11, 1960, in Attleboro, MA, he was the son of the late Charles and Clare (Lund) Desper of Plainville, whom Michael helped care for during their illnesses.

Mr. Desper grew up in Plainville, MA, and lived there for most of his life until moving to Attleboro.  He attended King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham.  He previously worked for Cook Horton Angell as a press operator and Technical Plastics.  Michael liked to read, loved to listen to 70’s music, watch horror movies, and view wildlife.  He loved to spend time with family and was always willing to help when someone needed it.  He cared a lot for family and was generous in giving to charities.

He is survived by two brothers, Charles Desper, Jr., and his wife Joyce of Wrentham; James Desper and his wife Debra of Attleboro; two sisters, Linda Deignan and her husband Patrick of North Attleboro and Helen DeRuisseau and her husband Craig of North Attleboro.  He is also predeceased by his brother Ronald Desper, who passed in 1993. 

He is survived by several nephews, nieces and cousins.  The family would like to acknowledge a dear family friend, Connie Farrands, who also helped care for Michael.

Michael’s family would also like to extend their gratitude and thanks, for their care given to Michael, to Raymond Petit, M.D., Asma Latif, M.D., Chadi Kaba, M.D., and Hospice and the Community Visiting Nurse Association in Attleboro.

A funeral will be held at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Monday, August 30 at 12 noon.  Reverend Rodney Thibeault to officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum, Attleboro Falls.

Visiting hours will be held immediately prior to the service from 10 a.m. until noontime. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Desper’s name may be made, at his request, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
