Ruth Peterson Anderson, 86, on July 14, 2021

NORTH ATTLEBORO – Ruth F. Peterson Anderson, 86, died peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. 

Born March 31, 1935 in Pawtucket, RI, she was a daughter of the late Ruth (Williams) Woodworth.

Ruth grew up in Attleboro and was a 1953 graduate of Attleboro High School.  She lived much of her life in Natick and Attleboro before moving to Franklin for 20 years.  She’s been a resident of Madonna Manor in North Attleboro for several years.

In 1980, she graduated with a LPN from the Pondville Hospital School of Nursing and in 1997 received her RN degree in nursing from the University of the State of New York.

She worked as a LPN working as an agency nurse throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island since 1980.  She ended her career with hospice care nursing.

At the young age of 62, Ruth fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming an RN and was featured in the Sun Chronicle newspaper with her story.

She had strong faith and a love for God.  She was a longtime member of the Assembly of God church Attleboro, now Crossroads International Church, where she sang in the church choir.

Ruth enjoyed shopping, cooking, entertaining large gatherings of friends and family.  She was famous for her homemade cheesecakes of which she happily baked and brought to every occasion.

She loved the ocean and visiting beaches in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.  She cooked at all the family holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthday celebrations where she welcomed everyone with a hug and a smile.

She is survived by her six children including two sets of twins: John Peterson of North Hampton, NH, Melanie Wright and husband Doug of Las Vegas, NV, James Peterson and wife Renee of North Attleboro, Jerrold Peterson of Middletown, RI, Bradley Peterson and wife Pam of Wrentham and Beverly Joy Peterson of Las Vegas, NV;

Her 7 grandchildren: Camille, Jerry, Jr., Brittney, Lauren, Kathleen, Amanda and Jack; her 2 great-grandchildren: Emma and Rhiella;

Her siblings: David Woodworth and wife Carolyn of Seekonk, Beverly Carlson and husband Paul of Seattle, WA and Sheila Resner of Jacksonville, FL and also many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sister, Betty Woodworth and brother Kenneth Woodworth.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 19 from 9:30a.m. to 10:30a.m. at Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro followed by a service at Crossroads International Church, 1052 Newport Avenue, South Attleboro at 11 a.m.  The service will be streamed online at https://cic.church/live-stream/our-web-site/
