Charles "Charlie" Bergen, Jr., 62, on March 16, 2021

NORTH ATTLEBORO – Charles E. “Charlie” Bergen, Jr., 62, died Sunday, March 14, 2021 at home surrounded by his devoted family.  He was the loving husband of Stephanie (Amantea) Bergen for the past 12 years.

Born November 9, 1958 in Dorchester, he was a son of the late Charles E. Sr and Nancy (Sullivan) Bergen.

Charlie grew up in Hull and has been a resident of North Attleboro since 2007.

He worked as a truck driver at Agar for over 20 years before becoming ill six years ago.  He was known for his hard work and devotion to his job.

Charlie was a dedicated husband and father and loved dogs.  He and Stephanie fostered many dogs.  In addition to his hard work, he was known for his honesty and sense of humor, which he kept until the very end.

He is also survived by his daughter, Amanda Rosen of Pembroke; son Mitchell Bergen of Taunton; two grandchildren: Thomas and Madilynn; three siblings: Ellen Sias and husband Arthur of South Windsor, CT, Timothy Bergen of Hull and Amy McGrath and husband James of Weymouth;

His favorite sister-in-law Michele Amantea and nephew Austin Amantea; his mother and father-in-law, whom he adored Anthony and Anne Marie Amantea; a brother-in-law Anthony Amantea II and his children Tori and Talia; his uncle-in-law Pat Amantea,

And four dogs, including his favorite step-dog Sugar.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 18 at 9 a.m. at Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.  Burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum, Attleboro Falls.
