PLAINVILLE – William J. Coady, 80, of Plainville passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Collins) for the past 53 years.
Born September 21, 1939 in Hartford, CT, he was a son of the late William and Julia (Patterson) Coady.
Bill grew up loving the ocean shores of Connecticut, and was also particularly fond of his childhood memories of summers spent in Kilkenny, Ireland. Graduating from Providence College and New England School of Law, Bill and Marie then raised a family as longtime residents of North Attleboro, also living in Arizona for 10 years, before finally moving to Plainville in 2015.
Bill spent his work career within the insurance industry, working as an adjuster at Norfolk & Dedham Group in Dedham, Lumber Insurance in Lexington, his own Coady’s Adjusting in North Attleboro, and Woodruff Sawyer Insurance in Boston.
Being involved with his children’s sports, Bill coached Little League, and was active in North Attleboro town politics, serving on the RTM. He enjoyed his Guinness stout and Jameson whiskey, loved watching Westerns, listening to Irish music, and was an avid reader. But it was really his family he cherished, along with the wonderful dogs he had throughout his life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children: William and wife Laura Coady of Moosup, CT, Sean and wife Susan Coady of North Attleboro, Elizabeth and husband Michael Lennox of North Attleboro and Julie and husband Michael Robert of Pawtucket, RI;
His grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, Shannon, Caitlyn, Molly, Kelly, Sean, Danny, Austin and Kylie;
And numerous “fur babies”.
In lieu of flowers, we please ask donations may be made to the ASPCA (www.aspca.org) or your local animal shelter.
Services will be held at a later date.
