Joan Marie DiCenso, 80, of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully at Attleboro Healthcare in Attleboro on Monday, July 22nd, 2019.
Born in Boston, MA on May 15, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Calvert and Velma Murphy.
Joan was a resident of Cranston, RI for over twenty-five years. She lived in Boston, MA (the city she loved the most) for over fifteen years and also spent time residing in California and Florida before making her way back to New England where she spent the remaining years of her life in North Attleboro.
A brilliant woman, Joan was a graduate of Cranston East High School in Cranston, Rhode Island. She went on to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island.
During her long career in Engineering, Joan held positions at Goodyear Aerospace, Raytheon, and fifteen years as an employee of Digital Equipment Corporation, which was her favorite job of all.
Joan was a lover of animals and had a special affection for cats, caring for as many as she could. She was an avid swimmer, enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf, and reading. Truly a woman who was ahead of her time, she had a passion for politics and was a computer wiz!.
She is survived by her devoted son and daughter: Debra DiCenso of North Attleboro and Robert A. DiCenso of Carlsbad, CA, and also her former husband, Anthony DiCenso of North Attleboro.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, July 25th, 2019 in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro at 10:00 AM.
Joan will be interred immediately following the service at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston, RI. Visiting hours have respectfully been omitted.
