WRENTHAM- Mark S. Finnegan, 60, of Wrentham passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 25, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Deborah (Knight) Finnegan to whom he shared his life with for 26 years.
Born February 19, 1958 in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Ann M. (O’Sullivan) Finnegan.
Mark grew up in Lowell and attended Lowell elementary schools and Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua, NH and was a 1976 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Lowell and went on to graduate from Cape and the Islands EMS in Barnstable with Paramedic Degree.
Mark was a firefighter/paramedic for the North Attleboro Fire Department for 24 years until his retirement in 2010. Mark was one of the first trained paramedics with the NAFD at the inception of the advanced life support pre-hospital trained era. While on the fire department, he also worked on the paramedic truck 2181 out of Milford, MA and paramedic trucks NP1 and NP2 out of Norwood, MA. After his retirement he was a paramedic at Milford Regional Medical Center Emergency Room, Milford, MA.
Mark enjoyed playing the keyboard and he loved to travel. His favorite travel destinations were St. Maarten, Florida, and Hampton Beach. He loved listening to the Allman Brothers but cherished his time spent with family and the many hours he spent playing with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Deborah, Mark is survived by his children: Keri McAndrews and her husband Brad of Bellingham, MA; Elizabeth Jones and her husband Robert of Franklin, MA; Nicole Knight and her partner Alex Valeriano of North Attleboro, MA; Daniel Barrett and his wife Jen of Middleboro, MA; and Amanda Kalliavas and her husband John of Brimfield, MA; his grandchildren: Joshua Dodson; Hayley Barrett; Emmy Valeriano; and Derrek McAndrews. His Siblings: Kevin Finnegan and his wife Margaret Reilly of Charlestown, MA; Barry Finnegan and his wife Ann Drysdale of Venice, FL; Brendan Finnegan and his wife Sandra of Dracut, MA. His sister- in-laws: Maureen Finnegan of Darien, CT; and Deborah Finnegan of Lowell, MA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins
Mark was predeceased by his brothers Cornelius T. Finnegan III and Edward Finnegan.
Visiting for Mark will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018 in the Sperry McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St. North Attleboro from 4 to 8 p.m.
A funeral with fire department honors will be held from the Sperry McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Martha’s Church, 227 South Street at 10:30 a.m. followed by a burial at Plainville Cemetery, Plainville, MA.
