NORTH ATTLEBORO – Jeannette E. Battista, 85, of North Attleboro passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at Steere House in Providence, RI surrounded by her devoted family. She was the loving wife of Carl Battista, Jr. for 62 years.
Born December 2, 1932 in Olmsted, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Stanley C. and Ethel E. (Jenkins) Hall.
Jeannette grew up in Ohio, went to Richfield High School, and graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1954 with a degree in Nursing on her way to becoming a Registered Nurse. She moved to North Attleboro in 1959.
Her happiest moments were spent with children as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; 25+ years as a North Attleboro school nurse; and as the beloved “Mrs. B”, NAHS cheerleading coach. She also volunteered for many years at the Red Cross, St. Mary’s Church and other local organizations.
Jeannette was a member of Kappa Sigma International Society and bowled for years in North Bowl leagues. She enjoyed drawing, writing poetry, cooking, and hosting holiday dinners for her family. She also loved animals and her many pets.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons: Stephen C. Battista, MD of Minnesota and Paul J. Battista of North Attleboro; two daughters: Carla J. Lynch of Cumberland, RI and Julie A. Battista of Lincoln, RI;
Ten grandchildren: Christopher, Stephanie, Meghan, Juliana, Lindsay, Liza, Alison, Adam, Jonathan and Joseph; two great-grandchildren: Miles and Holden and her sister: Joan Mortimer of Ohio.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 27 from 4-7 p.m. at Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro followed by burial at St. Francis Cemetery in Providence.
