PLAINVILLE – Donald R. Branagan, Sr., 87, of Cross St, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday July 21, 2018 in Plainville. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Rita Mandeville (Branagan).
Born on May 3, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts he was the son of the late Walter and Martha (Hetherington) Branagan.
Donald was a graduate of Hyde Park High School in 1948 and also a graduate of Wentworth Institute in Boston. He attended the Conservatory of Music in Boston and had the pleasure of singing at weddings and events.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955 and was stationed in Nome and Fort Richardson, Alaska accompanied by his wife Rita.
Don worked at the Foxboro Company as a tool maker until his retirement in 1996.
Donald was a recreational scuba diver who enjoyed diving for over 40 years. He was an avid reader but especially loved mystery books. Don was also a twenty year volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Besides his wife Rita he is also survived by his son:Donald Branagan Jr. and his wife Michele (majkut) Branagan of Pascoag, RI. His two precious grandchildren: Abbie and Sean Branagan and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers: Walter, David, William and Edward Branagan.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday August 18, 2018 from 11-12pm with a memorial service immediately starting at 12pm in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home 15 Grove St. North Attleboro, MA.
Burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donald’s name to a charity of ones choice.
