Helen Brissette, 98, on November 28, 2023

NORTH ATTLEBORO – Helen Brissette, 98, a lifelong resident of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Normand Brissette, who passed away on November 14, 2007.

Born on October 18, 1925, in North Attleboro, MA, she was the loving daughter of the late Alphonse LaCasse and Blanche (Paquin) LaCasse.

Helen grew up in North Attleboro and was a proud 1944 graduate of North Attleboro High School. During her high school years, she served as class vice president and was a drum majorette. On October 18, 1947, she married Normand, and together they built a life in North Attleboro.

Initially a devoted homemaker, Helen later dedicated herself to caring for others. She worked at the Wrentham State School, providing care for individuals with special needs, and also contributed her efforts to the E.A. Dion Company, where she eventually retired.

A committed parishioner of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in North Attleboro, Helen actively participated in the Rosary Society, Saint Vincent DePaul Society, and volunteered at the church’s food pantry.

Beyond her professional and community endeavors, Helen found joy in her various interests. She volunteered at Madonna Manor, enjoyed summers at her home in Rose Point, Wareham, MA, and indulged in her love for reading and cross-stitching. She crafted many baby afghans and quilts for her grandchildren over the years, showcasing her creativity and care.

Helen’s world revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her devoted children, Carol Lyons and Kenneth Brissette, both of North Attleboro. Her cherished grandchildren include Heather Sullivan, Beth Chamberlain, David Leco, and Victoria Curran, all of North Attleboro; Matthew Brissette of South Carolina; and Kaleigh Brissette of Washington. Helen leaves behind fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her son-in-law Richard Leco of North Attleboro and her close cousin Robert Paquin and his three daughters. She was predeceased by her daughter Judith Leco.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Steven Bensson, Patricia Moore, and all the staff at Madonna Manor for their exceptional care, compassion, and for making Helen comfortable in her final days.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Helen’s funeral on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 9:00 AM from the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her honor by the Reverend David A. Costa at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church (Transfiguration of the Lord Parish), 14 Park Street, North Attleboro. Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Towne Street, Attleboro Falls. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Saint Vincent DePaul Society or Madonna Manor. Your generosity will honor Helen’s legacy of compassion and community service.

  •  Helen is the mother of my sister in law Carol. Before cellphones, l once had a car breakdown in front of her house. At a loss when she didn’t open her door, l “broke in” her garage and let myself in to use her phone in my emergency. l knew she wouldn’t mind, and l intended to call her to own up that  evening.
When l walked over to the phone, she came up from her inlaw apartment downstairs, startled to hear footsteps from above. She hadn’t heard the doorbell. She just laughed when she saw it was me, never guiting me for my presumptuousness.
God bless her, such a warm forgiving heart. She’s one of the sweetest women l’ve ever known.❤

  • Carol, Kenny, Heather, Beth, David, Vicki, Matt, Kaleigh and all the kids, my heart and thoughts go out to all of you!   Aunt Helen was “one-of-a-kind” she was the humblest person that I have even known. My childhood would have never been as full without the “Brissette’s.  Some of my fondest memories were about spending Sundays on Spruce Street. What a legacy she has left for all of you.  You were Blessed to have her and Uncle Norm as “role models” there are no better.  She will live on in all of you as I see her in all of you. I love you all so very, very much may God’s Peace be with all of you as you navigate through this most difficult time.
