NORTH ATTLEBORO – Gertrude M. (Donnelly) Dagosta, 98, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro.

Gertrude spent most of her life residing in North Attleboro with brief times in Plainville, Fort Walton Beach, FL and most recently in Attleboro.

She attended St. Mary’s School and graduated in 1939 from North Attleboro High School.

During the World War II era, she was employed by Texas Instruments’ metals and controls division serving in many capacities for the longtime Attleboro-based company.

Gertrude had a passion for community involvement and served as Past Regent-Benedict Circle #61 in the Daughters of Isabella; was Past-President of the Emblem Club; a member of St. Mary’s Parish Guild and a member of the Live Y’ers at Hockomock YMCA.

She was an avid golfer with fond memories as a member of both the Norton and Falmouth Country Clubs.  Reading into the wee hours of the morning was time Gert cherished.  She enjoyed time spent with family and friends and taking trips to Foxwood’s Resort and Plainridge Casino to play the “penny” slots.

Gertrude was pre-deceased by her parents, Joseph and Josephine (Kiernan) Donnelly; her brother John J. Donnelly; her husband Raymond J. Dagosta to whom she was married for 56 years; her son, Michael R. Dagosta; son-in-law Ralph Gilmore and two grandsons: Timothy Dagosta and Michael R. Gilmore, and great grandson James M. Gilmore.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna M. Gilmore of Attleboro along with nine grandchildren whom affectionately called her “Grammy”: Mark Gilmore and his wife Susan, Rae Ann Wallace and her husband John, Bonnie Blanchard and her husband David, Amy Jo Pennella and her husband Armando, Joseph Dagosta, Gina Batts and her husband Ryan, Nicole McElroy, Anthony Ovelgone and his wife Kim, Terry Murphy and her husband Sean along with 22 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 5 at Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro at 10 o’clock.  Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
