Eleanor S. Legere, 92, on February 3, 2024

Eleanor S. Legere, 92, a longtime resident of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at home surrounded by family and friends after bravely enduring a year-long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Legere, who passed away on June 22, 1993.

Born in North Attleboro, MA, on September 1, 1931, Eleanor was the loving daughter of the late Joseph Grimaldi and Loretta (Cavalieri) Grimaldi. She attended Saint Mary’s School in North Attleboro and graduated from North Attleboro High School. Eleanor embarked on a fulfilling career as a secretary for the United States Department of the Navy in Washington, DC, for three years. Later, she dedicated her time to assisting her sister, who owned Aldo’s Pizza in North Attleboro, as well as lovingly making a home for her famiy.

Eleanor was a devout Catholic and a faithful parishioner of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in North Attleboro for most of her life until her health prevented her from attending regularly. She had a passion for the arts, often participating in art classes, and found joy in playing the slot machines at the casino. Her love for travel, especially to Italy, brought her great happiness, and she cherished the memories made during her many visits.

Eleanor will be deeply missed by her adoring friends and family. She was the devoted mother of Elizabeth (Legere) Brady, cherished grandmother of Derek Brady and his wife Stacy, and loving great-grandmother to Nathan and Emma Brady. Eleanor now joins her late husband and parents, as well as her two sisters, Ann Ruggio and Pat Sacco, in heaven.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her honor by the Reverend David A. Costa on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10:30 AM in Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church (Transfiguration of the Lord Parish), 14 Park Street, North Attleboro. Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Towne Street, Attleboro Falls. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend. The family requests that all who will be attending the funeral, please report directly to the church that morning.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Eleanor’s name may be made to the American Lung Association, either by mailing a check to American Lung Association, National Direct Response Headquarters, PO Box 756, Osceola WI 54020-0756 or online by visiting action.lung.org.
