Denise M. Giers, 48, on December 12, 2023

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that I share the untimely passing of my beloved daughter, Denise Giers, at the age of 48, in Plainville, Massachusetts on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

Denise was the loving daughter of the late Tina (Capen) Giers and is survived by her father, Robert S Giers of North Attleboro. She leaves behind two cherished sons: Gregory, 23, currently stationed in Hawaii while serving in the Navy, and Christopher, 20, residing in Medway, MA. She is also remembered by her brother, Robert S. Giers and his wife Kathy of Dubuque, IA, and her niece and nephew Mitchel and Kelsey Giers. Denise was the niece of  the late Theresa and Paul Black, and cousin of Joshua, Joseph and Brian Black of Attleboro, her aunt Mary O’Brien, and the cousin of Erin Sloan and April O’Brien of St. Augustine, FL. Her family extends to her uncle, Stephan Giers of the Philippines, cousins Stephanie Garland of Phoenix, AZ, Christina Giers of Dedham, MA, and aunt Katheryn Barbaro of Worcester, MA, her late aunt Patricia (Giers) Eliason and family, her late cousin Johnathan Giers of Rhode Island and her former stepmother Joan Gustaff of North Attleboro. She also leaves other extended family and many, many longtime close friends to mourn her passing.

Born on August 1, 1975, in Boston, MA, Denise grew up in Hyde Park, attended Most Precious Blood school in Hyde Park, graduated from Norfolk Agricultural High School in Norfolk, MA, and completed two years at Newbury College in Boston. A devoted mother, she took immense pride in her sons, embodying love and generosity. Denise had a heart for those less fortunate, displaying a playful and caring nature that brought joy to those around her with her infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and charming dimples. Embracing the present moment, she found joy in the outdoors, had a passion for animals, adored fashion, loved to dance, and was known for giving the warmest best hugs.

Denise had an eye for value, enjoying rummaging through thrift stores and reselling treasures online. She also found fulfillment in matchmaking, helping others find love and companionship, and contributed to dance exercise instruction with various companies.

Visitation to honor Denise will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A prayer service, officiated by the Reverend Bernard Lavin, will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Denise’s memory to a favorite or local charity, allowing her legacy of compassion and care to continue.

  • There is a whole in our hearts from the loss of our little Denice. She was a loving caring person like her Mom and aunt Terry. She loved her family and worked hard to take care of her boys/ young men.We will think of her often with a smile on our faces and a tear in our hearts. ?????????

  • I would like to mention some people that were forgot and also some corrections:

First and foremost Her mother, the late Tina P Giers (Capen), born 12/16/52. It took 38 years but Denise and our mother are finally reunited.

Her Aunt Mary O’Brian (Giers) now of St Augustine FL, who was always there for her, especially after our mom passed. She was a great Aunt to my sister.

Her Aunt Pat Alliason (Giers) and the entire Alliason family. We both had memories of having a great time together as kids.

Mitchel Giers and Kelsey Giers were Denise’s neice and nephew, not her cousins.

And please disregard the mention of Johnathon Giers. It was written wrong. They were  cousins. And he should not be mentioned in connections with Denise.

Also I want to mention her friend Christa Climo ( Last known surname). She and Denise were great friends from a very early age. And I know Chrisa and her family were there for her after our mother passed and for that I will always be thankful.

And to anyone that I did not mention please forgive me. You all have your own memories of Denise and you always will.

  • So sorry for everyone’s loss. Denise was sunshine on a cloudy day. Always smiling and those cute dimples. So sorry to her boys and dad.

  • She will be missed by all. My heart breaks for her kids and family. She truly was an angel that put others before herself. I will miss your smile, laugh and our silly stories.. love you always..
