NORTH ATTLEBORO – Rachel Bertha (Tolo) Giannitelli died peacefully on April 18, 2018 at Lifecare Center of Attleboro at age 94. She was born in North Attleboro and spent most of her life in the home she was raised until recently. Rachel was the widow of the late John Carlo Giannitelli.
She was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Cinderella (LaFratta) Tolo and was predeceased by her sisters: Pauline Desautel, Esther Tremblay, Rose Morriseau and Mildred Todaro and brother James Tolo.
She is survived by nieces Patricia Pernetta (Ray), Judy Wersling (Joe), Sandra Tardiff, Carol Christianson (Bob), Linda Lyons and nephews Joseph Desautel (Deborah), James Tolo (Mary Ellen), Ronald Tremblay (Kathy), Nicholas Todaro and Richard Desautel (Pat).
She is also survived by 14 great nieces and nephews and 21 great-great nieces and nephews as well as a very devoted dear friend, Mary Ellen Fauth.
Although she had no children of her own, she found great joy in her role as an aunt, traveling from Maine to California for visits.
She left school after the 8th grade to help support the family. She worked for Mason Box, Fuller Box and Texas Instruments over her career. She also became a hairdresser.
After retirement, she and her husband returned twice to San Guiliano di Pulia, Italy where they reunited with their families. Besides her family, friends and church, her home was her pride and joy.
She belonged to the T.I. Retirees Club and the Sons of Italy.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral Mass will follow at 12 noon at St. Mark’s Church, Attleboro Falls. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
