NORTH ATTLEBORO – Francine L. Leary, a lifelong resident of North Attleboro, passed away early Saturday morning, March 24, 2018, at home with her devoted husband of 34 years, Francis “Frank” Leary, Jr. by her side. In addition to North Attleboro, she was also a resident of Punta Gorda Isles, FL and Lake Dunmore, VT for many years.
Fran was born in North Attleboro and was a daughter of the late John M. and Eva (Coté) LeCompte.
She was a graduate of North Attleboro High School, the Katharine Gibbs School in Providence, RI and graduated magna cum laude from Bryant University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
She was an accomplished and well-respected executive assistant at Texas Instruments in Attleboro which later became Sensata Technologies. She was the chairperson of the Southeastern MA United Way Campaign for Sensata Techologies for many years. Fran worked for seven different presidents over her 44 years there and retired as executive assistant to the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Sensata.
She was a woman of great faith and devotion and an active communicant of St. Mary’s Parish in North Attleboro where she was a longtime member and past president of the Women’s Guild. Fran co-chaired the Christmas Fair for several years and was a 25-year member of the Altar Society. In November 2016, Fran was awarded the Fall River Diocese Marian Medal by Bishop DeCunha in recognition of her personal dedication and loyal service to St. Mary’s Parish.
Fran loved to travel with Frank and visited many countries and interesting destinations. Time spent with Frank, family and friends was one of her joys in life.
In addition to her husband, Frank, she is survived by two siblings: Jeanne Collins and husband, John of Yarmouth, ME and Richard LaCompte and wife, Christine of North Attleboro; her mother-in-law Beatrice Leary of North Attleboro; and siblings-in-law David P. Leary and wife, Celeste of North Attleboro, Judy L. Colvin and husband, James of North Attleboro and Donna B. Swinington of Grandview Farm in Brandon, VT and Nancy Keith of Brandon, VT.
Fran is also survived by nieces and nephews: John LaCompte of North Attleboro, Paula Lambert of Yarmouth, ME, Patti Fitzpatrick of North Yarmouth, ME, Peter Lambert and his wife, Lisa of Cambridge, Jay Francis Leary of Providence, RI, Kathleen Ramsay and Elizabeth Ripley of Grandview Farm, Brandon, VT, Debra Keith of Brandon, VT and Michael Keith of Bristol, Vermont.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 27 from 4-8 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, March 28 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
