HULL – Robert G. Dion, 80, of Nantasket Beach passed away Tuesday morning, January 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife and children.  He was the beloved husband of Cecilia Davlin for 22 wonderful years.

Born June 3, 1937 in Plainville, he was the son of the late William and Lea (Provencal) Dion.

Bob was a resident of the Attleboro area most of his life, residing in Attleboro, North Attleboro and Plainville. He retired to Nantasket Beach in Hull and spent winters in Florida.

He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Elementary School in North Attleboro and was a 1956 graduate of North Attleboro High School.

Robert served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Stuttgart Army Base in Germany.

He attended Rhode Island School of Design and worked as a draftsman and engineer at Instron in Canton Massachusetts for 32 years before retiring.

Bob truly was a man of many talents and had so many wonderful adventures including a cruise around the world.  He was an avid artist who loved painting, pottery, carpentry and could fix anything.  He loved the outdoors, adventure and travel, especially the beach, boating and clam digging. Bob was a wonderful cook, always cooking up his favorites including clams casino. He was an extremely caring man that would do anything for anyone and had a great sense of humor. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children and their spouses: Jody Dion and husband Amit Anand, Tracy Glynn and husband Derek, Julie Bradley and husband Jeffrey, and his step daughters Anna Lisa Carey and husband Sean and Christiana O’Donoghue and husband Francis.

He was a devoted grandfather to his 9 grandchildren; Kai, Jack, Tara, Drew, Mackenzie, Amelia, Liliana, Karina and Conor.

Bob is the brother of William Dion and his wife Claire, the late Edward Dion and his wife Annette, Paul Dion and his wife Helene, Lorraine Ashley and her husband William and Richard Dion and his wife Paula; Bob had many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews that were all a big part of his life.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 12 from 4-8 p.m. at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.  A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, January 13 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church Street, North Attleboro at 10 o’clock.  Burial with veterans’ honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
