ATTLEBORO – Helen L. Brauner, 86, of Garfield Avenue passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence RI. She was the devoted wife of the late Frederick ‘Ted’ Brauner for 40 years.
Born May 27, 1931 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Paiva) Silva. Helen grew up in Somerville. She raised her family in North Attleboro and Plainville for over 30 years. She has been a resident of Attleboro for the past year.
She was primarily a homemaker, taking care of her three children and also worked at various local companies including Royal Hinge and Dye for several years.
She loved spending time at the Plainville Senior Center where she volunteered at the front desk. She also enjoyed knitting for a cause. She was an at-home volunteer for Sturdy Memorial Hospital and made knitted hats for newborns at the hospital. She enjoyed reading, movies and loved to cook.
Helen cherished spending time with her family and being a part of her grandchildren’s lives.
She is survived by two children: Kristine and husband Kris Bainton of Cumberland, RI and Erik and his wife Amy Brauner of Attleboro; Three sisters: Evelyn Scaringi of South Carolina, Dorothy French of California and Barbara Haggarty of Colorado; And three grandchildren: Kori Bainton, Kyle Bainton, and Emily Brauner.
She was mother of the late Cheryl Brauner and sister of the late Ronald Silva.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 20 from 5-7 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, November 21 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro at 10 o’clock.
Burial will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
