NORTH ATTLEBORO – John McKenna, 80, of Circle Court passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital surrounded by his devoted family. He was the loving husband of 27 years to the late Constance (Costa) McKenna who died in 1989.
John grew up in Pawtucket, RI and has been a resident of North Attleboro since 1973.
He worked as a truck driver for M & M Transportation for many years and worked in shipping departments at local manufacturers including Augat before retiring from V.H. Blackinton in 2005.
John was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. He loved watching sports, particularly college football and especially loved watching Notre Dame. He also played sports when he was younger and was an excellent baseball player and coached his kid’s Little League teams.
He is survived by five children: Shane McKenna of North Attleboro, Randy McKenna of North Attleboro, Jon McKenna of Attleboro, Chad McKenna of Attleboro and Julie McKenna of North Attleboro;
A brother: Richard G. McKenna and his wife Viola of Greenville, RI;
Five grandchildren: Brendan, Meaghan, Kelsie, Corey and Cameron McKenna; and his nephew Richard McKenna and wife Danika and niece Christine Volpe and her husband William.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, November 1 from 5-7 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at the conclusion of visitation at 7 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at Notre Dame Cemetery in Pawtucket.
