PLAINVILLE – James R. Goddard, 78, of Plainville died Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at home.
Born May 10, 1940 in Mansfield, he was a son of the late Charles D. and Genevieve E. (Mowry) Goddard.
Jim grew up in Mansfield and was a 1958 graduate of Mansfield High School. He also lived in North Attleboro for many years before moving to Plainville.
He worked as a dry cleaner and presser at various stores for 45 years. He owned his own dry cleaners in Attleboro for 12 years, Norton for 15 years and Walpole for 10 years.
Jim was a U.S. Army Reserves veteran for 7 years and was honorably discharged in 1964.
He is survived by his daughter Kim Wilson of South Yarmouth; his grandson Joshua Carvalho; and his significant other, Karen LaValley of Plainville.
He was the brother of the late Raymond Goddard, Helen Baker, Genevieve Ronhock, Charles Goddard, Ruth Staples, Lillian Briggs, Evelyn Maynard, Thomas Goddard, and George Goddard.
Jim enjoyed spending time with Karen’s great-grandchildren: Leah and Allen Washburn.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 26 from 10 am to 12 pm at Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.
A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at the conclusion of visitation at 12 p.m.
Burial to follow at Union Cemetery, Great Road, North Smithfield, RI.
