NORTH ATTLEBORO – Leo A. Fontaine, 94, formerly of Seekonk, passed away in his home on Monday January 7, 2019 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Beatrice (Oliveira) Fontaine to whom he was married to for 73 years.
Born on July 2, 1924 in North Providence, RI he was the loving son of Albert and Florence (Maley) Fontaine.
He attended St Mary’s School in Pawtucket, RI. and lastly resided in North Attleboro for over 65 years.
Leo was a truck driver for 20 years and also founded and owned Bucky’s furniture and appliance store in Central Falls, RI. which is now owned and operated by his grandson Leo A. Fontaine III.
Mr. Fontaine was an avid card player and was a member of the Lafayette Club in Pawtucket, RI and a member of the Bug Club in Central Falls, RI.
Leo is survived by his loving children: Linda Lee Tomas and husband Ray Shideler of North Attleboro, Robert Fontaine of North Attleboro and Sharon Fontaine of Riverside, RI. His cherished grandchildren: Tammy Lee St. Pierre and her husband Bob, Leo Fontaine III and his wife Dawn, Sherri Lee Cahill and her husband Tom, Sheila Poirier and her husband Dan and Christina Lee Strauss and her husband Lee. His adored great-grandchildren: Katie, Jake, Bradley, Megan, Tomas, Korrina, Jazlin, Joseph, Ellis and Finnley. Granddogs: Paddy, Stella, Ty, Bruno and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and loyal friends.
He was predeceased by his 5 siblings and his son Leo Fontaine, Jr.
Visiting hours for Leo will be held on Sunday January 13, 2019 from 5-8pm in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home 15 Grove St. North Attleboro. A funeral will begin from the funeral home on Monday January 14, 2019 at 9am with a mass of Christian burial following at 10am in St. Mary’s Church 14 Park St. North Attleboro. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
