Michael J. Murphy 11/1/2018

FRAMINGHAM - Michael J. Murphy, 56, of Framingham and formerly of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Framingham Union Hospital.

Born in Attleboro, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Joan P. (Norris) Murphy. Michael graduated from Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School in 1980 and enjoyed a successful career for many years as a Draftsman, Tool Maker, Machinist and Mechanic with several local companies.

Michael is survived by his children Lucas and Ava, as well as his former wife Lorna, all of Franklin.  He is also survived by his siblings Patricia of Jackson, NH, Kevin (Sally) of Southborough, Elizabeth (Mark) of Attleboro, David (Linda) of Attleboro, and Eddy of Cumberland, RI. as well as seven nieces and nephews.

He was a talented man who could design, build or fix almost anything.  For many years Michael was a wonderful teacher, mentor and friend to many. He was always happy to be on his motorcycle or dirt bike and to be with his German Shepherds.

He spent many nights catching frogs and other creatures with his daughter, and kept an aquarium in their home where they could feed and monitor their finds. He shared with his son his interest in all things mechanical, as well as developing his love of dirt bikes and racing.

After a complicated spinal surgery Michael’s physical and mental health began to deteriorate, he battled many demons over the years which caused other medical issues. At the time of his death he was living in South Middlesex Opportunity Council housing, and we are grateful to his friends there for their care and attention over the last several weeks.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 13 from  5-8 p.m. at Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.

A Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, November 14 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro at 10 o’clock.  Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
