NORTH ATTLEBORO – Sophie A. Fredericksen, 95, of North Washington St. formerly of Plainville, passed away on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Fredericksen.
Born on May 16, 1923 in Plainville MA the loving daughter of the late Frank and Louise (Swiczy) Mielauskas.
She graduated from Plainville High School.
Sophie worked at Baka Manufacturing as a supervisor in Plainville and during her retirement worked as a cashier at St. Vincents also in Plainville.
She kept active in her younger days with square dancing, her family and sewing. She also swam at the YMCA daily until she was 90 & rode her stationary bike daily 5-10 miles a day until she was 92.
A talented seamstress a lover of crafts, she was best known for “Nana’s Mice”, flags, quilting and many other holiday decorations.
Sophie is survived by her loving daughter Sheila Whyte from Bourne, MA. brothers Frank, Bill and Arthur, 5 cherished grandchildren: Jeff and Alyce Farnell of North Attleboro; Larry and Lisa of Tiverton, RI, Melissa and Bobby O’Neill, Michael & Kathy McCormack and Kimberly McCormack. 5 adored great-grandchildren: Lincoln Farnell, Audrey Farnell, Kayla McCormack, Jack McCormack and Avery O’Neill.
Besides her husband Arthur, she is also predeceased by her daughter Sandra McCormack and her brothers William and Arthur.
Calling hours for Sophie will be held on Wednesday November 7, 2018 from 9-11 am in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home 15 Grove St. North Attleboro, MA with a service immediately starting at 11am.
