Martine (Gagnon) Paradis, 87
Martine (Gagnon) Paradis, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2018.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (D’Auteuil) Gagnon. Born in Saint-Jean-de-Dieu in Quebec, Canada, she was one of nine children. Martine came to the United States upon marrying her husband, the late Joseph Paradis, who had recently relocated to the US from Canada. She learned English, raised her family, and lived her entire married life in North Attleboro. They shared more than 50 years together as husband and wife.
Martine could most often be found in her kitchen, happily cooking up a treat or a meal. There was always some fabulous aroma in the house and something delicious in her oven. Visitors didn’t leave her house without a container or two filled with the recipes of the day or a jar filled of whatever produce she had recently canned from the garden.
Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family. She looked forward to every visit and every opportunity to celebrate together. Her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest joys. Holidays, the family events, outings to pick strawberries or blueberries, clam boils, going bargain shopping, all put a smile on her face. The visits with family from Canada were extra special and always too short.
Martine is survived by her children; Carole Wallace and her husband Bill of Rehoboth, Raymond Paradis and his wife Kathy of South Attleboro, Rene Paradis and his wife Donna of Franklin, and Alain Paradis and his wife Pam of Seekonk. Her legacy also includes six grandchildren; Melanie Hayden of Swansea, Michelle Cannata of Attleboro, Kevin Paradis of South Attleboro, Christine Paradis of Boston, the late Laura Paradis of Franklin, Joe Paradis of Cumberland, and two great-grandchildren; Rileigh and Cortland Hayden of Swansea. She is also survived by her sister, Cecile Gagnon of Montreal, Canada.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral Mass celebrated on Saturday, October 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church St., North Attleboro, MA followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church St., North Attleboro, MA 02760, where she was a lifelong communicant or to Beacon Hospice, 182 N Main St, Fall River, MA 02720, which was invaluable in providing her comfort.
