NORTH ATTLEBORO -John Thomas Carr III, 75, of North Attleboro passed away Monday evening, September 10, 2018 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI surrounded by his devoted family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Joan (Dill) Carr for the past 47 years.
Born July 6, 1943 in Attleboro, he was a son of Suzie Carr of Florida and the late John T. Carr II.
John lived most of his life in North Attleboro and was a 1961 graduate of North Attleboro High School. He later graduated from New England Linotype School in Boston and worked as a typesetter for many local newspapers including the Sun Chronicle, Providence Journal and Pawtucket Times. He worked at Graphic Labs in Mansfield for many years and later was self-employed doing printing, type-setting, rubber stamps and engraving before retiring to Florida in 2007.
John and Joan moved back to North Attleboro in 2013. In his retirement he enjoyed investing and day-trading stocks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Tim Carr and wife Liz of North Attleboro; a sister Angie Delfino of Florida; a niece Lisa Delfino and several great nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 13 from 5-8 p.m. at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
