NORTH ATTLEBORO – Barbara M. Will, 86, of Metcalf Rd., formerly of Scituate and Sharon passed away peacefully on Saturday September 30, 2017 at Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing in Wrentham. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard B. Will for over 60 years.
Born on November 13, 1930 in Boston, MA, she was the loving daughter of the late Leighton and Della (Johnson) Chipman.
Barbara and Richard were married on July 18, 1953 and shortly after moved to Sharon. In 1958, after the birth of their daughter Sandra, they moved to North Attleboro where they stayed and raised their children. She had been residing at Brookdale Senior Living in Attleboro since April 2017.
She was a 1948 graduate of Howard Seminary in Bridgewater, MA. and a 1950 graduate of LaSalle Junior College in Newton, MA. In the 1950’s Barbara was employed by the Brookline Trust Company and then as the office manager of Will Associates in Pawtucket, RI. from 1970- 2007.
Barbara was an avid Bridge player and continued playing with her weekly Bridge club until shortly before her passing. Barbara’s bridge group met weekly and enjoyed bridge, lunches out, and a close friendship with the group that continued for years. In her younger years Barbara enjoyed swimming and boating and bowled at North Bowl Lanes.
She was very devoted and active in the Central Congregational Church in Attleboro Falls, MA. She was also active in the Women’s Union, Auction Committee, Annual Rummage sales, and the annual Apple Pie Day fundraiser.
Barbara loved Cape Cod and the beach. She enjoyed fishing in Cape Cod bay with her husband Richard and took many trips on their boat, the Queen Marie. She also enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren enjoy the Cape beaches and the ocean.
She loved travelling with her family and going on trips to Canada, the New England states, California, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands.
Barbara is survived by her two children: David M. Will and wife Suellen of Foxboro, MA and Sandra L. Gelinas of Attleboro, MA. Cherished grandchildren: Christopher Gelinas of Providence, RI., Daniel Gelinas of North Attleboro, MA., Kyle Will and Carolyn Will of Foxboro, MA., Nephew: Gary Bennett of Fall River and Steven Bennett of Tampa Florida.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday October 7, 2017 at 11am in the Central Congregational Church, 115 Commonwealth Ave., Attleboro Falls. Burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum. Visiting hours are private.
